Conducting an Internet-based Survey: Benefits, Pitfalls, and Lessons Learned

Authors: Alessi, EdwardJ.
               Martin, James I.

Resumen:

"The article discusses the benefits and challenges to conducting an Internet-based survey. According to the authors, an increasing number of researchers are shifting from the use of traditional recruitment strategies and other data collection methods to Internet-based survey methodologies. They suggest the shift is a result of the increased accessibility of the Internet by ordinary individuals, not just those who are computer savvy. An overview of the authors' research using extant literature on Internet-based survey methods to examine the challenges and advantages to using the surveys in social work research is presented, which includes an in-depth discussion of the mistakes the authors encountered, the mistakes the authors made, and solutions for recruiting survey participants." for Authors
